Standardising GP Websites with NHS England South West

Over the last year we have been participating in a project coordinated by NHS England South West which looks to standardise general practice websites. The project included 26 participating practices in the region, including Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), Bath, Swindon, and Wiltshire (BSW) and Devon.

The purpose of the project was to enable patients and citizens across the Southwest region to easily access GP services through an intuitive, accessible, and interactive website, where they will be quickly signposted to the information or tools to manage their care and to improve their online experience.

The project included an extensive amount of research, design and development through workshops and testing. To ensure the patient and public voice was heard throughout the design phase, a patient user group was set up to ensure the relevant functionality and features were captured and incorporated to help patients make the most out of the platform. This included volunteers from Mendip Vales Patient Participation Group (PPG) who were passionate about improving digital interest for patients.

We have now launched our new websites, Mendip Vale Bristol, Mendip Vale North Somerset, Mendip Vale South Gloucestershire and Mendip Vale PCN.
